Old Engine Removed

A picture of me posing next to the conquered engine, after 175,000 miles of service to previous owners. I bought the car with a blown headgasket, and decided after stripping the engine that it would be safer (less risky) to put in a whole new (rebuilt) engine. So.. Out it goes!

Here are a few of my scribblings on what could go into a carputer that I'll be building. Don't expect it to be coherent or make much sense.

Cruise Control

This is a shot of it while it was still in the junkyard car, but that's it against the firewall, with 10 wires coming out of it.

Emergency Brake Handle

Since the Emergency Brake handle in the car had fallen apart (the screw came out, and the button came off the plastic stalk, which fits inside the metal stalk), it was fixed, to my surprise, with just the parts shown.

Power Trunk Lock

A power trunk lock solenoid installed where there was none before. It slipped right on, and bolted right down. All I need to do is run a wire to a switch inside the car.

Auto-Dimming Rear-View Mirror

Horn

Horn from a 1998 Saturn SL1 that was in the Junkyard. I'm hoping it's a different note than the horn I have now.

A picture of me, holding the steering column high after a fight to remove it. We got this tilt steering column since my red Corsica had no tilt steering, and no cruise control. The tilt steering columns also come with the cruise control controls on the turn signal stalk.

Removing the Uhaul Hitch
