Here are some more baby gerbil pics, I know it’s been a while, but
these were just sitting on my computer, begging to be posted.
There’s Larry, Curly, and Jo(anne) on the left, Sugar and Cream in the
white (cute how their tails are mirror-image each others..), and BJ on
the right. Here they would be one-two weeks old: old enough to grow fur
but not old enough for eyes to show.
This is Scaredy. (Talk about a bad case of red-eye)
Scaredy makes sure no one is eyeing her baby gerbs.
Another little furry baby gerbil pile. Their eyes still haven’t opened yet in this picture.
Scaredy is totally worn out after a long stint of baby-feeding and baby-chasing.
This is Banjo (Squeaky’s mother) trying to hide her baby from the snooping camera. This baby didn’t
make it, it was from Banjo’s second and last litter. She was a little
old for taking care of babies.
Either way, this precious moment with mother and baby has been captured in time.
Here’s a pileup of the baby gerbs. I’m not quite sure what exactly they were accomplishing there; keeping warm, most likely.
Scaredy’s moving nests away from a damp spot made by the water bottle (bottle removed for the photo)
Scaredy just found a wriggly baby running around, and is bringing it back to the nest.
Here’s Scaredy (the momma), with her 6 little babies.
Black: Larry (M), Curly (M), Joe (F) [was going for Larry, Curly and
Moe, but Joe(anne) was a girl, and we already had a Mocha]
White: Sugar (F), Cream (F) [I bet you want some coffee now, huh?]
Brown: B.J. (F) [Short for Banjo, her Grandmother, whose markings are exactly the same]
At this point, they’re about 2 weeks old.
